Family-owned luxury furniture brand, Dowel Furniture, introduces its 2020 designer capsule collection with A-List New York interior designer Josh Greene. Featuring 23 exclusive designs, the collection emulates modern sophistication with a relaxed Southern California approachability.
The Josh Greene for Dowel collection includes an array of product types, including new product categories for Dowel Furniture such as a mirror, bed and six pedestals. All designs feature a common theme: simplicity of form, quality craftsmanship, and stylish functionality.
“The collection’s framework is based on the proportions that I find myself continually drawing in furniture plans,” says Josh Greene. “Once the key pieces and proportions were established, I looked to three 20th century design heroes in terms of style precedent: Charlotte Perriand and her functional simplicity and the sensual, bold lines of Karl Springer’s 1970s furniture. Michael Taylor’s 1980s California interiors served as the benchmark for where these pieces might live.”
With Greene leading the creative direction, Dowel Furniture ensured the family factory’s extensive product manufacturing experience lead the way for high-quality workmanship and customization options. The team finalized the collection with an in-person product review in the Philippines factory.
“Josh’s creativity pushed us to develop vanguard pieces in other categories we had not yet considered under Dowel Furniture, and his unrelenting focus on simple forms with repeating geometric details allowed for a dynamic cohesion throughout the collection,” says co-founders Joanne Hallare Lee and Ray Hallare. “The result feels very purposeful, and the pieces fuse seamlessly in any project style.”
The Josh Greene for Dowel collection is made entirely of German-sourced oak and is available in six finishes or any matched paint color. Each piece is built directly in the family-owned factory in the Philippines with over 30 years of experience fabricating for some of the most well- known American furniture brands. The collection will make its trade debut at High Point Market in April 2020.
