4 secrets to producing an engaging podcast are simple. Truth be told, I was nervous at first. Cheers to Throwback Thursday!

About Mulberry Lane

Recalling 1970s soft rock groups like Fleetwood Mac and the EaglesMulberry Lane is a sweetly melodic, harmony-driven vocal quartet consisting of four sisters from Omaha, NE. Sisters Heather, Rachel, Jaymie and Allie took the name Mulberry Lane from the street they grew up on in Omaha, where all of them started singing together as children with some encouragement from their mother, a local jazz and big band singer. The sisters were teen-agers when they performed at the Nebraska State Fair and met someone from Triangle Talent, a booking agency. That meeting led to a development deal with PolyGram, and they traveled to Nashville to record with such country producers as Harold Shedd and Rob Galbraith. But that deal fell through because, they were told, they “weren’t country enough, ” although their soft rock/adult contemporary does contain country elements. The sisters continued to perform around Omaha after reaching adulthood, and in 1998, they recorded their first album, Don’t Cry ‘Til You Get to the Car, and released it themselves. After selling over 10,000 copies of that album, Mulberry Lane was signed by Refuge/MCA and recorded Run Your Own Race, which came out in 1999. Two years later, Fabu arrived.

Dre Island Delivers Refreshing Debut Reggae Album, Now I Rise

Dre Island delivers refreshing debut reggae album, Now I Rise. Dre Island is one of Jamaica’s most powerful messengers. The multi-faceted artist – who sings, songwrites, produces and plays piano – will release his debut album Now I Rise on May 29th, 2020 through a joint-venture partnership with DubShot Records and Kingston Hills Entertainment. The 13-track release will feature the hit single “We Pray” feat Popcaan, “My City” and the recently released “Be Okay” feat Jesse Royal, as well as 9 previously unreleased songs. Other collaborations on the album include “Days of Stone” feat Chronixx and “Run to Me” feat Alandon. Today, along with the pre-order of the album, he unveils the last song on the album “Still Remain” accompanied by a brand new video directed by Fernando Hevetia.

Classic British Horology inspired watches with modern day functionality and reliability.

For the past five years, his stone-chiseled voice has reflected universal themes of struggle and triumph on introspective anthems making him a revered collaborator of his peers in the reggae community (from Popcaan, Chronixx and Agent Sasco) and internationally. He turned heads outside of the reggae sphere in 2016, when he teamed up with UK sensation Jorja Smith on the Cadenza-produced track “People,” which was voted Hottest Record In the World by BBC’s Radio 1 host Annie Mac.

As fans earned a taste of Dre Island’s versatility during his rapid climb, the arrival of his opus Now I Rise is an embodiment of the core values of reggae music (roots, reality, and culture) mixed with R&B sensibilities and seamless melodic flows akin to hip-hop, gospel and blues. Taking on the title as the Voice of the Ghetto on his album standouts such as “Never Run Dry,” “My City,” and “Be Okay,” Dre Island wails through the emotions of the less-fortunate, while also taking aim at greed and corruption in all nations. He continues to delve deeper with more intimate love songs including on “Four Seasons,” “Calling” and “Favorite Girl.”

Now I Rise is largely self-produced, but includes an impressive list of reggae and dancehall hitmakers like: Jam2, Anju Blaxx, Teetimus, Winta James, Dretegs Music and Barkley Productions.

“This album speaks of arising, growth, new beginnings and emerging from the ashes. At this time, these are all the things we need based on what is happening right now. The truth is, since 2015 I have been advertising that the album is coming. It has been five years and the time is right. As an artist and person Dre Island move different. I embrace Rasta and this way of life, but I am not part of any group like Boboshanti or Twelve Tribes. Everything I do is inspired by the father. I am moved to drop this album at this time because I am divinely inspired to do so. When you look at a song like “We Pray” I can take no credit for a song like that. Yes I wrote the lyrics and built the rhythm and I voice the track, but it’s a prayer, not just a song so how a man fi tek credit for something that come from above,” Dre Island states.

A schedule of live stream performances will be announced and promoted in the coming weeks as the release date approaches. The first partnership leading up to the release will be with Pepsi Jamaica, and features an original song written and composed by Dre Island that will be promoted on social media with the tag #PepsiTanAYuhYard. The team chosen by Dre to market and distribute the album is Kingston Hills Entertainment, a partnership between Kingston, Jamaica based The Solid Agency and New York, USA based DubShot Records. Previous releases include Wayne Marshall’s “Glory to God” and Tessanne Chin’s “Somebody Loves You.”

Here is The Secret You Don’t Know About Multi-Talented Artist Joshua Sade. It’s a love song gone wrong for singer/songwriter and multi-talented artist Joshua Sade James and his new single, “All Fall Down” — available now!

Fresh from his forthcoming sophomore album release, JSJ — slated for June of this year — “All Fall Down” was written about mistrust, dishonesty, and miscommunication in a relationship.

“Without these core attributes enforced by love, we… ‘All Fall Down,” he explains.

First written about three years ago, the song’s bittersweet inspiration was related to a relationship and breakup he’d had while in college. “It allowed me to do a lot of self-reflection,” he shares.  “I wrote the song after the second time we broke up, and just got to think about how truly toxic we were towards each other.

“There was cheating, there was manipulation, there was just a lot of baggage neither of us knew how to get rid of. We just sort of gave it to each other because it was easier than being alone.

“It was interesting to shoot this video with a current love interest when it’s actually about a previous one,” he continues, laughing. “When writing or hearing the song in my head, I wanted this song to be like if a sad, old clown got drunk, broke into the old carnival where he used to work, and started up the merry-go-round, only for it to not fully work.

“I think I achieved that in both the song and the video.”

“It was a blessing to shoot this with Sagi and my good friend Esther,” James adds of director Sagi Kahane-Rapport and actor Esther Vlessing. “Also, shoutout to Dylan Spilberg and Leo Vargas for making this happen!”

“All Fall Down” serves as a preview for what’s to come from the artist’s upcoming EP, JSJ (Joshua Sade James).

A Sheridan College alum for Musical Theatre Performance — and winning the Sheridan: Pop Award for Outstanding Performance — James also co-choreographed, co-directed and starred in the College’s PREP Production original, Revue Diva Dynasty. Hailing from the tri-city Kitchener/Waterloo area — with country artist Jamie Warren for a dad — he’s been featured coast to coast, including Newfoundland to play ‘Pepper’ in Mamma Mia!, The Calgary Stampede’s Talent Search, Ontario’s Western Fair’s Rise2Fame, PEI’s Charlottetown Festival, and more.

In addition to his extensive performing and recording work, Joshua Sade James is an active advocate for mental health rights and proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community.

WE GOT LOVE FEATURING LAURYN HILL WATCH HERE!

About TEYANA TAYLOR:
Being a jack of trades has allowed Teyana Taylor to become a master of all. From her smoky melodic vocals to her dynamic dance moves, the entertainer dips in dives between her talents that also include producing, songwriting, acting, directing and everything in between. When it comes to describing herself, the Harlem native can only think of one word: Everything.

“I literally can do everything. I never look at anything as being impossible,” she explains. “I exhaust all options to make what happen when I need to make happen.” Her mantra made her an early favorite to artists like Pharrell, who she signed her first deal with, and later choreographed videos for artists like Beyonce and Jay-Z. Her love for the arts and R&B later earned her the title of the first woman signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint.

Between R&B’s identity crisis in the 2010s, Teyana dropped her debut album VII, with tracks like “Maybe” (featuring Yo Gotti and Pusha T) and the sultry “Just Different” shaping her musical persona. The critically acclaimed album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart in 2014, cementing her position in today modern R&B field. “I fought for that raw, hood necessary R&B and now I feel like it’s better than ever,” she says.

After spicing up the R&B charts, Teyana was blessed with the arrival of her daughter Junie with husband and NBA star Iman Shumpert in 2015. “I do all of this for my baby. She’s who I do it for,” she says about Iman “Junie” Tayla Shumpert Jr., her main source of inspiration. “I always show her how to be a leader and a businesswoman. I want her to believe that she can be anything she wants to be and it not be a shocker that she’s a female doing it all.” Soon after, Teyana went on to star in the internet-breaking video for Kanye West’s “Fade,” and scored her first MTV Moonman for “Best Choreography” at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards.

But it wasn’t until the release of her sophomore project K.T.S.E. in June 2018 that the world experienced Teyana’s talents. With her all-female production company The Aunties, Teyana self-directed videos for “WTP,” the Gold-selling single “Gonna Love Me,” and recently, “Issues/Hold On.” She has also directed videos for her peers like T.I. (“You”), Monica (“Commitment”) and Lil Duval (“Pull Up” featuring Ty Dolla $ign) with fans like Ms. Lauryn Hill and Elton John praising her boss moves.

Part of what makes Teyana stand out from the rest is her ability to move with precision and poise in everything she does. From the studio to the stage, every idea is a project with the singer front and center with a vision all her own. With her musical inspirations like Aaliyah, Teena Marie, Mint Condition and Janet Jackson speaking to her soul, Teyana is aware her mission is larger than life. “I’m working on me every day and I think that’s my purpose,” she says, comparing her life to a never-ending book. “I’m still going, still mastering and being a better me.”

Rock quintet Off Road Minivan is gearing up for the release of their debut full-length album, Swan Dive. Set to be released on May 15th via Tooth & Nail Records, fans can get their first taste of Swan Dive with recent singles “Vampire” and “Supernova,” streaming now on Spotify.

“For us, this album touches on the sounds that made us want to play in the first place – an alternative rock landscape from early 00’s emo to grunge influence,” the band shares. “We aren’t here to teach any defining life lesson, just trying to sing about the ones we’ve experienced.”

Chaads

Alternative rock band Off Road Minivan -made up of Melvin BrinsonDave TrimboliMiles SweenyEvan Garcia-Renart, and Ryan Tuck O’leary (of Fit For A King) – is the direct result of decade-long friendships and a collective passion for 90’s grunge.

They began the project in 2018 and released their debut EP, Spiral Gaze, on Tooth & Nail Records later that year. Their ability to harness nostalgia in both lyric and tone revealed a band that not only appreciated, but embodied the emo genre. Their newest album amplifies that appreciation all the more.

Swan Dive, their first full-length, tells stories centered around characters they knew in their Hudson Valley hometown. The record immortalizes the memories often felt but rarely discussed, from the pain of missed opportunity to the grief of suicide. It includes the band’s hardest and softest instrumentation yet, proving they’re as dynamic in skill as they are in sentiment. Off Road Minivan will release their debut full-length album, Swan Dive, on Friday, May 15th via Tooth & Nail Records.

From writing to producing, her musical intuition depicts intense energy in the “I’m The One” EP. Carrington generates power and release while appealing to all audiences in this can’t-miss debut.

About Carrington MacDuffie:
In life and in art, Carrington MacDuffie is an adventurer. A New York native who now splits her time between Austin and Seattle – after a decade beach side in Los Angeles – she travels the globe and joyfully explores diverse universes of thought and practice. Whether making music, writing poetry, voicing works of literature, piloting a fixed-wing airplane, or savoring the Zen-like concentration of target shooting, she is led by her passion for creativity, and her endless fascination with exploring both the world outside and her inner muses.

As a singer-songwriter, Carrington first released work in 2014. Her love for music was sparked in early childhood while listening to the records that her dad, a huge music aficionado, was spinning — Teddy Wilson, Beethoven, Herb Alpert, Hudson River folk, Scottish marches, Bob Dylan, classic rock, and the Beatles, among many other artists and genres. Those far-reaching influences weave through her entire body of work, and stand out in her newest singles and her most recent LP Kiss Make Better.

New album Nothing Is For You is their most intentioned. It’s an examination of culture’s ability to synthesize individualism and veil its agenda. The process was meticulous, a departure from the impulsivity of their previous pursuits. That’s Tigerwine’s specialty: reinvention. Their appreciation for change not only scratches the itch to try something new, it expands their sound and bends their genre.

The result is music for the metalhead and the indie rocker alike, something you’ll learn you expect from them. “The record examines synthetic individualism and cultural pressures of ‘becoming'” the band shares. “We hope this record adds beauty to these peculiar times that can seem both monotonous and mundane.”In 2012, Tigerwine began crafting their sound and by 2015 they perfected it, earning them a record deal and the opportunity to release their first EP, Lull. The next few years were fruitful and furious, with whirlwind tours and a whirlwind full-length release, Die With Your Tongue Out. Two years later they signed with their current label, Tooth & Nail Records, and began writing their sophomore release, Nothing Is For You.
